What is dermovate used to treat?

Dermovate is a brand of medicine that contains the active ingredient clobetasol propionate. This is a steroid medication which is used in the treatment of eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis. Cream and ointment forms are available and it is a prescription-only medicine.

Can dermovate be used on the face?

YOU SHOULD NOT normally use on the face where the skin thins easily – BUT if your doctor has advised you to use it on the face then, if possible, the course of treatment should not last more than five days. It is important that you DO NOT let the cream get in your eyes.

What are the side effects of dermovate cream?

How long can you use dermovate ointment?

If a specialist has prescribed Dermovate to treat a child or skin on the face, wherever possible it should not be used for longer than five days at a time. You should not use airtight dressings to cover the area treated.

Is Dermovate antifungal?

Clobetasol (including scalp treatment and shampoo) is a very strong steroid. Clobetasol can also be combined with an antibiotic (neomycin sulfate) and an antifungal (nystatin). This is only available on prescription. Clobetasol is also called the brand names Dermovate, ClobaDerm and Etrivex.

Where do I apply Dermovate cream?

Scalp lotion: Apply the lotion 1 or 2 times daily to the affected areas of the scalp and rub in gently. The total dose should not exceed 50 mL in a week. Clobetasol scalp applications should not be used near an open flame. Spray: Apply the solution 2 times daily to the affected areas of the skin and rub in gently.

Is dermovate good for scars?

Step 2: treatment of scars If used in the early days of scar formation, a potent or super-potent topical steroid eg Dermovate ® ointment applied thinly once daily (for several months) may be of benefit.
